Aptitude test: After downing the liquid, Carlo finds himself in a room with a knife and a cheese wedge in front of him. He picks up the knife and looks at it, inspecting the sharpness and accidentally pricking himself a bit. He then hears the growl of a canine behind him. Turning around quickly, he sees a large dog, bearing its teeth. He raises the knife. The dog then charges toward him. Carlo then slashes at the dog's throat. He expected to see blood but he didn't. He was out of this part of the aptitude test.

There he was, still in the simulation, but on a bus. A man holding a newspaper looked up at him. Pointing his finger towards a picture of another man on the paper, he asked if Carlo knew who he was. Now, Carlo wasn't sure if he could trust this man, but he did know who the man was. He didn't know where he knew him from, but he did know him.

"Yes sir. I do know him, but what does that matter?" Carlo says.

"You could save me!" Says the man holding the newspaper.

"Not if I make sure you're dead anyways, you creepy old man." Says Carlo, raising his fists. For some reason, he had intense hatred for this man.

Carlo wakes up from the simulation with a start and immediately asks what his result was.

"It was... inconclusive. You got Dauntless- and Candor. You're something they call Divergent. You must not tell anyone." Said the Abnegation woman that had performed his test.

Choosing Ceremony: Carlo wasn't sure whether he wanted to be brave, or honest. Or did he want to stay in Amity with his family, where everything was always peaceful? He was shaking a bit as he walked up to the front when his name was called. He slit his hand to make the slightest bit of blood come out. Glancing back at his family one last time, he started to make his decision.

If I choose Candor, I have to tell all my secrets and my thoughts. That could ruin any friendships I would be able to make while I'm there. Amity doesn't let me express myself at all, though. If I'm angry, I can't show it. Dauntless lets me do what I wish. I can be adventurous, the adrenaline running through my veins. He thinks to himself. Nodding, he brings his hand over the the bowl of Dauntless coals and allows his blood to drop in and sizzle. He takes a sigh of relief when he heads over to his new faction.

The Dauntless cheer for him. Carlo doesn't dare look back at his family. His mother and father were Amity born and raised. They never transferred. They were upset enough when Carlo's older sister, Kasey, transferred to Abnegation. At the end of the choosing, Carlo follows the rest of the Dauntless as they storm out of the room in a mob of cheering initiates. Carlo grins. This is going to be great.

Appearance: Carlo's dirty blond hair and deep brown eyes give him a vulnerable yet threatening look. The girls are attracted to him a lot. He often wears muscle shirts or no shirt at all, which a lot of the girls quite like. His arms are tattooed with the word 'Dauntless' on one arm and 'Brave' on the other. He also has a tattoo of an Eagle on his chest. He's tall and muscular as well.

Personality: Carlo is very daring, and has lost most of the peacefulness of his old faction after initiation. An excellent knife thrower, he was fantastic at the physical aspects of initiation. As for the mental portion, if it hadn't been for his divergence, he most likely would've failed the fear landscape because of the amount of fears he has. His worst fear- being rejected for who he is. If it came down to it, if he were rejected socially, he would likely want to push the person off of the chasm.

Carlo is also brutally honest with people he doesn't like. If someone says something to him that he doesn't like, he is likely to retort with something just as bad, if not worse. Sometimes, his honesty isn't the greatest thing for him though. He was yelled at during initiation for being completely honest with a mentor, but let's not go into too much detail. Carlo is never afraid to stand up for his friends.

History: Carlo is from Amity. When he was 15, his sister, Kasey, transferred to Abnegation. His parents were Amity born and raised. They loved Carlo and never wanted him to be a transfer. When they came to visit Carlo on Dauntless visitation day, it didn't go well.

His childhood best friend had transferred to Dauntless, but didn't make it through initiation, and became factionless the year before Carlo was an initiate. Death was something rather constant in Carlo's childhood. His brother died at age 6, and his grandparents shortly before Carlo was born. He also lost one of his close friends to disease. Losing those close to him is another one of his worst fears.
